Sorry for the bad quality.On this particular day, in the presence of Professor Pieter van Vollenhoven, Patron of the New Zealand Netherlands Foundation, the two Waka were handed over to the museum. The WakaFor the first time in history, the Maori were building a Waka (a Maori canoe) which will stay in Leiden. With the building of the Waka, the National Museum of Ethnology is intensifying the age-old relationship between the Netherlands and New Zealand. The Dutch Waka taua was named 'Te Hono ki Aotearoa', or 'Connected with New Zealand' on 26 June.
