In this week's second special edition for men, "Extra" Lifechanger Nurse Jamie Sherrill shows guys 2 easy steps they can add to their grooming routines that will produce dramatic results. Exfoliating and moisturizing. Exfoliating removes the outer layer of skin, shedding dead cells and stimulating new growth. This helps unclogs pores, keeps skin clean, and reduces acne breakouts. This is important for men because it exposes the hair follicles, allowing a better shave. Nurse Jamie recommends for men to exfoliate after cleansing and before shaving "because you don't want to drive impurities into skin."Nurse Jamie's pick's are Jack Black's Face Buff with a great Vitamin C and menthol kick for $17. Billy Jealousy's Liquid Sand is and exfoliator and cleanser that is gentle enough to use every day. It's $24 and smells like the beach - yum! Her drugstore pick is Nivea for Men at $6.50.Nurse Jamie's Favorite Exfoliator Recipe (Girl Style)Ingredients:1 tablespoon brown sugar 1 tablespoon granulated sugar 1 tablespoon macadamia nut oil2 tsp vanilla extract 1 Tbsp ground oatmeal (not instant)Instructions:Mix all the ingredients. Apply to face in gentle circular motions, leave on face for 2-3 minutes and then rinse. Nurse Jamie's Favorite Exfoliator Recipe (Dude Style)Ingredients:¼ cup water¾ cup baking sodaInstructions:Mix all the ingredients. Apply to face in gentle circular motions, leave on face for 2-3 minutes and then rinse. Apply in small circular motions avoiding the eye area. Be careful not to over exfoliate, which dries and irritates the skin. The face is the part of the body most sensitive to exfoliation. Hence, provided that exfoliating causes the skin to dry out, it is very important to moisturize it that newly exposed skin with a moisturizer with SPF.
